( amos slept with someone. prax doesn't know why that comes as a surprise. amos is a handsome guy, why shouldn't he sleep with someone? —maybe it's because prax has been so focused on everything else, on mei, on being here, that he can't imagine anyone else not being just as focused on everything else.
but that's silly. )
None of anyone's business. ( he says after a moment. ) But yours and whoever you slept with.
[ Amos is focused. Amos has one goal in mind, and that is getting them home, to their own ship, to their own time. Getting them back so that Prax can get his kid back. That is his goal, and he's intensely focused on it. What he does when he can't sleep doesn't affect that goal in any way, shape or form.
( amos is goal-oriented, but there's space for things like sex in the downtime, in those moments he can't sleep. for prax, he can barely make himself think of anything but mei. the only thing that really works is plants, trying to get the air filtration system properly set up, trying to figure out the precise needs of the plant on this station. )
All right. ( he nods, not quite willing to call frank an asshole because he likes frank! but not disagreeing entirely, either. )
Amos wouldn't mind being a further distraction, for Prax. But he can't say it. It's not right. He's not come to terms with it himself, only realizing very recently that maybe, maybe, he was different around Prax.
It's not the kind of person he can be for Prax. Not only the doctor would never see him this way, but it's also - no. Prax deserves better than this. ]
Yeah. Anyway. Doesn't matter. Doesn't change what we're here to do. If he wants to gossip, that's his prerogative, but I've got better things to do.
( amos wouldn't be a distraction. amos would be so much more than a distraction and prax can distract himself, but he can't think beyond that. the thought doesn't even cross his mind. )
I guess people in an enclosed space will always do that. Gossip.
Well I guess it's good for you that you don't tend to do anything that would lead to gossip, huh? Anyway, Doc, gotta go - setting up a couple things in the maintenance shafts, gotta get back to work.
[ He doesn't wait as he stands up, limping past Prax and squeezing his shoulder in passing. ]

Exactly. He's being an asshole.
