Hey, Amos. I need that mechanical/engineering brain of yours again. This time for an opinion on whether I'm being dumb about something or not. These locked doors, have you tried opening them?
Something's bugging me about them. What if they're locked for a damn good reason?
Don't get me wrong, I still think we should try as hard as we can to open them. It's the only way we'll find the command deck. But what if they're keeping something locked away? Something that maybe took out the original crew??

[Alex is still looking at his terminal, lodged in his sling so he can read it free hand, frowning deeply to himself as he knocks on Amos' door with his good arm.]

[ That's what you get for walking in without knocking, Alex. You get Amos, sitting on his bunk, running a hand over his... shotgun, checking that all parts are present and accounted for and that it's locked and loaded, ready for action if necessary.

[It was at that precise moment that Alex looked up, to see Amos with a gun. Now, Alex had seen Amos with a gun many, many times. Alex had even seen Amos with that gun. So it wasn't the gun itself that made him blink and look a little like a deer stuck in the headlights.

Yeah, I know about that security girl. [ There's disdain in his voice, clear and obvious. He's not much for politics and even less for authority, if it hasn't been earned. Naomi's got it. Holden's got it. ]

[ Then, a shrug. He pulls up the gun, the butt resting on his thigh as he eyes it. ]

[And what, Alex? There's no where to go. The hope in his expression dies.]
Damn, what I wouldn't give to get her back. [He nodded at the gun.] She got ammo?
I just want to make sure when we do open the door we can close another one real quick. You think that would work?
[ Amos sighs. Alex, you're way obvious. ]
I know what you're thinking, but a gun and the Roci are two very different things, buddy. Imagine you do find it anyway - [ Not her - ] - what makes you think it'll be locked and loaded? Full up on fuel and everything, able to take us home? We've been lucky, but we're not that lucky.
[ Amos nods, fingers running past the bullet holders on the side of the gun. ]
Yeah. Limited, though. I'll have to try and keep the casings, make do.
I know what you're thinking, but a gun and the Roci are two very different things, buddy. Imagine you do find it anyway - [ Not her - ] - what makes you think it'll be locked and loaded? Full up on fuel and everything, able to take us home? We've been lucky, but we're not that lucky.

Look, if we found her, we'd manage an outfit somehow. There's gotta be a reactor here. Even if she was basically just a floatin' panic room, I'd still feel better about it.
[ Even if she only had enough power for him to run flight simulations over and over, it would help give him an idea of how the hell to protect this station, if push came to shove.
