[ . . . oh. ]

Ah. I uh. Think I might have an idea of what's goin' on here.

[ He hesitates, then, because this isn't really something he wanted to talk about with Amos, not after the last time he tried and it became clear that it wasn't something that Amos was aware of, or acknowledged. He pushed his hands into the pockets of his jumpsuit, leanin' back. ]

I mean, don't get me wrong - he's an idiot, and god only knows why he thought that'd be a good idea, but - He probably thought he was uh - tryin' to protect you. And Prax.

I think that might be it, yeah. [ He's not so sure about the fantasy part, and he looks a little uncomfortable, but there's no point trying to lie or talk around it. ]

If he thought that you guys were together, or almost together, and figured that Clara was puttin' a wedge in that... I mean, hell, it's still god damn ridiculous to talk to her like that, but I think that's where he might have been comin' from, on this.

God knows we're all cooped up and half way deep into cabin fever. Maybe it was easier gettin' upset over your love life than our situation.

[ Alex puts both his hands up in the universal sign of surrender. ]

I ain't defendin' him, Amos. Or excusin' him. I'm just tryin' to understand why the hell he did it, that's all.

[ His hands lowered as he shook his head. ]

Nothin'. I mean, nothin' about the two of you together - I've told him a bit about the crew in general, but nothin' like this. Just a bit about what we'd been up to before we got here.

It ain't like I'm runnin' around tryin' to put things in his head, Amos. We've talked more about Talissa than I've ever said anythin' about you.

[ He sighed. It wasn't delusional - far from. Amos's affection for Prax was a lot more obvious than the man seemed to realise.

But that also - really wasn't something he was going to argue, right now. ]

I'll talk to him. Just - if he's an idiot again, let me know, alright?

[ There was a long pause, as he looked at Amos, assessing for a second. He really wasn't sure that leaving it at a punch was really the best way to leave that particular message, but... Amos wasn't exactly being vague. And the man had a point. ]

... Alright. Then I won't. [ A little quietly. ] But only because I trust you, when you say it's done.

[ He didn't like it. Of course he didn't. He's come to care about Frank a lot, and one mistake wasn't enough for Alex to write him off. But he was painfully aware that in this instance, it didn't really matter what he felt about it. This was about Amos, not him. And he couldn't actually claim the man's reaction wasn't warranted.

So it didn't matter if Alex didn't like it. He understood it. He didn't have to like it.

He swallowed, and nodded. ]

... Alright.
