He nearly just blurted out 'Prax wanted to make sure you were okay', but even with his lowered inhibitions, he couldn't do that. ]
I ain't tryin' to play games, Amos. I'm tryin' to make sure you're okay. Actually okay. Not your usual 'I don't give a damn in hell so I'm fine' type of okay, where regardless of what happens you just mark it off as shit that happens.
I know you ain't - I know you ain't had a good day.
[ Amos, after a moment, sighs, fully standing and looking straight at Alex. He's not stopped thinking about it, the kiss, which is not usual for Amos - he can move on from any situation as fast as it happened, usually, but not right now. Right now, he keeps on repeating the moment, and the way Prax looked at him. The way he practically ran away. ]
There's nothing I can do about it now. What's the point in dwelling on whatever's happened? We're all on edge.
[ He sighs again. ]
I'm fine. Really. I don't know what you know or you think you know, but I'm fine. Shit does happen.
[ Alex just looks at him. Really looks at him, for a long, considering moment.
But in the end he just lets out a breath and nods. ]
Alright.
[ There was only so much to say, but as far as he could tell, Amos did seem fine. He didn't seem happy, no, but he didn't seem overly upset.
Not that Alex was really sure he'd even know what that looked like.
But there was only so far that Alex was willing to push it. Just like everything he wanted to know about Amos' past - there was just a line he didn't cross. If Amos didn't want to tell him, he didn't want to tell him. End of.
He was relatively okay, and that was the important part. ]
We are all on edge. I just hope this damn music stops before one of us snaps.
